Individualised Acupuncture care with A Degree Qualified Acupuncturist in Glasgow City Centre
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture as performed by Paula in Glasgow, involves the skillful insertion of very fine needles to provide you with benefits felt throughout your body and mind.
Acupuncture is a therapy with many thousands of years in development.
Originating in China, it is based on an understanding of homeostasis (Yin Yang in Chinese Medicine terminology). It works to address the imbalances that have developed in your body and mind as a result of how you live your life.
These pillars of health are sometimes within your control, and sometimes not! Acupuncture takes our bodies out of the “stress” side (sympathetic) nervous system, and into the “safe” side (parasympathetic) of our nervous system, therefore allowing your body to rest and heal and your mind to quiet.
The evidence shows, when treated by a fully trained acupuncturist, acupuncture regulates your hormones, mediates the inflammatory markers, and even, rewire our brains, i.e. it encourages the systems in our body to work in harmony rather than competition.
It is More than Simply Needles

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Acupuncture Hurt?
The needles are incredibly thin and many people are unaware of them being inserted.
They are so fine that we can needle a balloon and not burst it!
During treatment, pleasant Qi sensations can be felt, including tingling, heaviness, warmth and pulsation. Many consider their acupuncture treatment to be a peaceful, calming respite from the pressures of daily life.
Is Acupuncture in Glasgow safe?
As a degree-qualified acupuncturist, I have completed training in both the ‘western’ anatomy, physiology, pathology etc ALONG SIDE the full ‘Eastern’ anatomy pathology etc.
All acupuncture needles are single use and pre-sterilised. I have ensured that Health Rediscovered exceeds the requirements set out by the Environmental Health Department.
In addition, I attend regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events. I am also constantly expanding my understanding and skills through appropriate research and by engaging in forum discussions.
All these activities ensure my practice is up to date and that Health Rediscovered continues to meet and exceed health and safety guidelines and provides the best care possible. You can also read more about the modifications in place to minimise the risk from airborne diseases such as Covid-19 here.
What Can Acupuncture Treat?
My experience, whilst in China, showed me that many see acupuncture as their first port of call – like us going the GP – and acupuncture is commonly sought for a wide variety of conditions, from chronic pain, stroke, common colds/coughs, stress, depression, fertility, and weight loss, as well as conditions that don’t respond well to ‘standard medical care’: e.g. IBS, CFS, fibromyaligia, anxiety, depression.
There is a wide evidence base now on the many ways acupuncture can benefit, and is the single largest natural therapy to be studied.
How many sessions before I see changes?
Based on my experience offering acupuncture in Glasgow, most people feel an immediate effect of being more relaxed, calmer, and have reported experiencing a better night’s sleep after the 1st session.
I have created packages to help you get the most from your treatments and save money.
On average, clients have between 6 and 10 sessions, to gain lasting benefits, but this varies from person to person and your needs will be discussed at your initial appointment
How frequently do I need to come?
The key to acupuncture is the frequency of treatments i.e. the dosage. – generally the closer together the sooner you’ll see benefits. For some, once a week is appropriate, but for others, more frequent to begin with – 2/3 times a week, that is only ever for 2-3 weeks maximum before we can reduce the dosage as your body heals.
“Had an appointment with Paula yesterday, had cupping and acupuncture. Paula told me it would be 24 hours before full benefits really kick in. Went out for some air this morning and managed to walk slowly for 20 mins no pain!!! Will try again tomorrow but hope this is the recovery starting. This is all due to Paula – thanks you’re a star.”
“Really impressed with Paula & the treatments I received. Very professional & would highly recommended to friends & family.”
“Not run in 8 weeks and after 1 session I am back on treadmill running. Paula you are a star only wish I lived closer so I could have regular treatment. “
“Combo of cupping & acupuncture by Paula and I could walk and felt pain free for the rest of the afternoon. I just need to get there more often! Big Thanks Paula x”

“Paula is a great acupuncturist and I would say a true healer. She is kind, warm, helpful and gives good treatments. Nearly two years ago I had my first treatment and it blew me away. Got me out of a deep depression in about 6 to 8 sessions. Now go back from tome to time for more physical ailments. Highly recommended!”
How long does each session last?
Your initial appointment can last up to 90 minutes, this allows time for a full consultation along with the initial treatment.
There are two options for follow-up sessions:
The standard return is booked for an hour: which allows enough time for cupping, moxibustion, electro acupuncture, once you are settled you are left to relax (with a buzzer), and enjoy the serenity of your acupuncture in treatment at the convenient central Glasgow
If you prefer the longer ‘chill time’ or for those who require more modalities, e.g. massage, a 90 minute appointment is also available.
In addition to regular acupuncture I have also completed post graduate training in cosmetic acupuncture to help you look as good as you feel!
