Create healthier looking skin: Cosmetic Acupuncture
Updated: Sep 26, 2022
Cosmetic or as its also known Facial acupuncture, although new to us in Glasgow, has been around for thousands of years.
It is a branch of acupuncture that still looks to help create more harmony within our bodies, to help regulate our homeostatic response (our bodies way of regulating itself) with an added focus on the face – on ensuring the muscles are toned, the skin tone is even and it can even help reduce the lines and wrinkles so many of us worry about.
Whilst Paula believes ageing is a WONDEFUL thing (because what is the alternative??), I know for many, myself included – seeing your face changing feels very strange and can be unnerving, so doing what we can to maintain that sense of vibrancy, that glowing, healthy appearance is important and as such creating an ‘anti ageing’ effect.
Cosmetic acupuncture is a wonderfully, natural way to help you look radiant and feel vibrant.
Paula has created a truly unique combination of massage techniques, acupressure and acupuncture using natural, vegan, products to help you look and feel amazing.
Cosmetic acupuncture can help to

• tighten the pores • brighten the eyes • minimising/elimination of fine lines • improve muscle tone and dermal contraction • provide relief of sinus congestion • reduce a double chin/sagging jowl • balance our complexion • reduce bags and sags around the eyes • reduce and even eliminate puffiness
A report in 1996 found that 90% of the 300 participants found marked improvements.
A study in 2013 showed noticeable improvement in elasticity (improving skin tone and reducing the lines and slight sags).
Paula completed a survey of her own patients in 2011 and 100% said they would recommend the treatment to their friends and family.
What happens in a Cosmetic Acupuncture treatment
The initial consultation includes a full medical history, a discussion about your areas of concern and where you’d like to focus, as well as a discussion of your current lifestyle and the 10 questions (the TEAM way to get a full picture of what is going on in your body – what it's trying to tell us).
The treatment
The treatment begins with a cleanse, tone and massage using products from the Tropic Skincare range. The massage includes acupressure & specialist facelift techniques. Following this I use cupping and finally a tool called a tiger warmer – which is most folks favourite bit.
Then it is time for needles – not only in the face, but in the body to help improve your overall health. There are over a 1000 acupuncture points on the body, once all the micro systems are included, and each treatment is as unique as you are – it very much depends on what is going on for you exactly which points are chosen. As a general rule, the are face (obviously!) lower arms, lower legs and sometimes in the abdomen also.
You then get to completely relax and drift of while the needles work their magic, for approximately 45 minutes.
Frequency and Number of Cosmetic Acupuncture Sessions Required.
For optimal results I strongly recommend 2 cosmetic acupuncture sessions a week for the first 3 weeks, then 1 session weekly for another 2 weeks.

The science shows this to be the most effective and efficient way to see results that last!
